Engineering Manager, Developer ExperienceInterested in working on cutting-edge blockchain technology and creating equitable access to the global financial system? Since 2014, the mission-driven team at the Stellar Development Foundation (SDF) has helped fuel the tremendous growth of the Stellar blockchain network, an open-source platform that operates at high-scale today. Developers and companies around the world build on it, and the SDF team is expanding to support the rapidly growing and changing Stellar ecosystem.In this role, you'll manage the development of the entire open-source Developer Toolchain for our cutting-edge Smart Contracts platform, including but not limited to the Stellar CLI, the Stellar Laboratory, building SDKs and helping create standard Smart Contracts that can be adopted by the entire ecosystem. This role has a direct impact in making the Stellar tooling the best in industry and will be working very closely with our Product and Developer Relations teams.In this role, you will:

  • Help define the feature strategy to drive success for Stellar's developer ecosystem.
  • Plan and execute sprints, track progress and oversee day-to-day tactical decisions.
  • Mediate technical discussions and review PRs.
  • Jump in as needed with code fixes and hands-on contributions.
  • Mentor and grow your team members through feedback, reviews and career guidance.
  • Help support the open source contributions to all projects under the DevX umbrella.You have:
    • 8+ years experience as a top-level contributor in the software and technology world.
    • A broad engineering background and deep experience leading full-stack teams.
    • Hands-on experience with Rust, React, TypeScript.
    • Heavy customer focus and a product-driven approach to building software.
    • Proven success developing and delivering complex, scalable, and highly reliable solutions.
    • Interest in working on open-source software.
    • Strong experience in Scrum/Agile and an interest in helping the team develop agreements and processes around that methodology.
    • Prior experience as an Engineering Manager or Director of Engineering at an established, high-growth technology company. Ideally you have served as an engineering leader in a successful, dynamic startup (startup experience is highly desired).
    • A proven track record of developing and nurturing strong engineering teams recognized for high productivity, excellent morale, and low turnover in complex and rapidly evolving environments.
    • High integrity, principles, and ethics, creative problem solving skills, and the ability to ignite the creativity of others.
    • BS, MS, and/or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field is preferred.Bonus Points if:
      • Technical expertise in relevant industries including blockchain, cryptocurrency, fintech or payments.
      • Experience writing and deploying Smart Contracts on the blockchain.We offer competitive pay with a base salary range for this position of $170,000 - $220,000 depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
