Our restaurant brings the same high standards and dedication to ingredient quality and technique, now with a focus on casual fine dining.Job OverviewThe Pastry Chef at Sirene will be responsible for designing and executing the breakfast pastry offerings, bread work, and dinner dessert program. This role offers creative freedom to experiment with local ingredients and develop a polished pastry menu for the Oakland dining scene.Key Responsibilities

  • Menu Development
    • Design a pastry menu that aligns with Sirene's focus on seasonal, high-quality ingredients and local flavors.
    • Collaborate with the executive chef to ensure cohesion between dessert and savory courses.
    • Experiment with wine pairings, creating desserts that enhance the restaurant's curated wine selection.
    • Production and Presentation
      • Oversee and execute daily pastry production, ensuring consistent quality and presentation.
      • Innovate with flavors and textures, incorporating techniques that emphasize both flavor and artistry.
      • Maintain standards for presentation that match Sirene's elevated yet relaxed dining atmosphere.
      • Inventory and Cost Management
        • Manage pastry inventory and control costs, ensuring ingredients are fresh and used efficiently.
        • Track ordering and maintain vendor relationships for specialty items and seasonal ingredients.
        • Team Leadership
          • Train and mentor junior kitchen staff in pastry techniques and ensure high standards of operation.
          • Ensure compliance with kitchen safety standards and maintain an organized, clean pastry station.Qualifications
            • Experience: At least 3 years of experience as a pastry chef in fine dining or a similar upscale setting.
            • Skills: Proficient in a wide range of pastry techniques with strong creative and artistic abilities. Must have experience with seasonal menu development and ingredient sourcing.
