Job Description:

Assemble and decorate cakes, tarts, and pastries to meet business demand while upholding quality standards.

• Build and ice cakes, fill and decorate pastries, and create special-order bakery items.
• Prioritize production lists, maintain accurate records, and recommend adjustments as needed.
• Merchandise products in the sales display case, ensure proper rotation, and maintain a clean and sanitary environment.
• Provide guidance and support to team members, create special-order cake designs, and offer excellent customer service.
• Perform opening, mid, and closing duties, maintain equipment, and ensure accuracy of signage and pricing.Skill Requirements:
  • Efficient cake decorating skills, including piping techniques and the ability to create decorative flowers and borders.
  • Understand color theory for blending buttercream colors and coordinating palettes.
  • Apply proper technique when using various icings and have advanced knife handling, tool, and equipment safety.
  • Follow recipes, directions, and procedures; effective time management and organization skills.
  • Basic math skills for recipe conversions and modifications.
  • Strong communication skills and willingness to work as part of a team.Experience:
    • Minimum 6-12 months retail or restaurant experience.
    • Complete the Bakery Decorator Apprentice training program or equivalent experience.
    • Prior experience in a professional bakery or grocery retail, preferred.Physical Requirements:
      • Lift 50 pounds.
      • Stand/walk 6-8 hours in an 8-hour workday.
      • Use hands for single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling.
      • Work requires bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching.
      • Exposure to FDA-approved cleaning chemicals and temperatures up to 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
      • Work in wet and dry conditions and use tools and equipment, including knives, box cutters, and heavy machinery.
