We see it as a way to achieve our mission faster, in an environment of rapid ideation, strong alignment, and that energy that makes work more fun.Role & ImpactWe're looking for a Platform Engineer that's comfortable working up and down the stack, from our web framework to queuing systems and the database layer, with a particular focus on reliability, scalability, and performance.Day-to-day, this might include:

  • Understanding performance and scaling characteristics for specific backend systems, and shipping local improvements as well as infrastructure and tooling investments that solve problems more globally.
  • Helping debug and solve critical infrastructure issues across services and parts of the stack.
  • Working with other engineers on technical design for systems and features with an eye for reliability, scalability, and performance.You'll also lay the groundwork for engineering and product processes, ensuring that our team can continue to build quickly and serve our customers for years to come.About You
    • You have 4+ years of experience in software engineering, specifically in infrastructure engineering.
    • Strong knowledge of best practices in modern software development such as deployments, CI/CD, data management, and distributed systems.
    • Experience working with modern technologies such as Kafka, Druid, Postgres, and AWS.
    • Based in the San Francisco Bay Area or willing to relocate (with support from Orb).You might be a good addition if you:
      • Have worked on developer-facing products or an internal platform team.
      • Have experience working on large-scale data infrastructure problems or distributed systems.
      • Enjoy understanding the nitty-gritty of technical domains deeply.Our technical processWe're using React, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, Python, PostgreSQL, and Kafka. We believe great engineers can learn any stack, so you do not need experience with these specific tools and we encourage you to apply regardless.
