Ability to collaborate effectively in a multi-disciplinary team is essential, as are strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to efficiently manage project timelines in a fast-paced environment.Responsibilities will include:

• Serve as a technical expert on Linac & microwave projects and as a resource to other related projects at Varian.
• Collaborate and provide expertise to Manufacturing group.
• Linac & Microwave system design work.
• Provide advisory support to Physics and systems engineering team.
• Work with other scientists and engineers to review and solve difficult technical issues.
• Coordinate resources needed to complete a task or project.
• Improve documentation, baseline data and operating and maintenance procedures.
• Provide scope, cost and schedule estimates for research and engineering projects.Job Requirements:
  • MS/Ph.D. in Microwave Engineering or similar field.
  • 15+ years of direct experience in the design, construction, implementation and maintenance of Linacs and high power microwave systems.
  • Linear accelerator manufacturing experience.
  • Highly motivated team player who can also work independently.
  • Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills.
