empowered.POSITION SUMMARY: The position of Grants Associate is a
vital part of the growing fundraising team at First Place. Working
closely with the Associate Director of Development, this position
will research, draft, and submit compelling grant proposals and
reports to a variety of funding sources, including foundations and
corporations. Responsibilities will include developing proposals
and reports, managing submission timelines, and maintaining our
administrative database. The ideal candidate will have exceptional
writing skills, a strong understanding of nonprofit funding
mechanisms, and a proven track record of securing grants.The
position of Grants Associate is a vital part of the growing
fundraising team at First Place. Working closely with the Associate
Director of Development, this position will research, draft, and
submit compelling grant proposals and reports to a variety of
funding sources, including foundations and corporations.
Responsibilities will include developing proposals and reports,
managing submission timelines, and maintaining our administrative
database. The ideal candidate will have exceptional writing skills,
a strong understanding of nonprofit funding mechanisms, and a
proven track record of securing grants. Essential Duties and
Responsibilities:Foundation and Corporate Grant writing (80%)
- Work with Associate Director of Development to craft concise,
compelling, accurate Grant Proposals; prepare and assemble proposal
packages in order to meet annual revenue goals for
corporate/foundation giving.
- Write and assist with preparation of Grant Reports to funders,
including gathering necessary data from program, finance, and
evaluation staff, draft written reports and submit all reports in a
timely manner.
- Identify new foundation and corporate funders through online
prospect research, website databases and other resources.
- Work with Associate Director of Development and Development
Team to coordinate site visits and funder meetings and events,
including participating in relevant discussions.
- Ensure funder acknowledgement letters are sent in a timely
manner and ensure proper follow up with declined requests. Grants
Administration (20%)
- Maintain up-to-date records in Raiser's Edge database,
including grant tracking and reporting, as well as prospect
research.
- Collaborate with Development Team on strategies for foundation
cultivation and solicitation.
- Oversee effective donor management through timely responses to
prospective donor inquiries and gift acknowledgements.
- Support other fundraising tasks as needed.Foundation and

- Other duties as assigned. Qualification and Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- 2-4 years of office or administrative experience
- Highly organized with superior attention to detail, strong
proofreading and project management skills.
- Ability to multitask in a fast paced, deadline-driven
environment.
- Ability to take initiative, be proactive and independent.
- Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and presentation
skills.
- Ability to maintain a professional demeanor in all
situations.
- Commitment to mission of First Place for Youth.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; Raisers' Edge experience
preferred.
- Availability for occasional evening and weekend work and some
travel as needed.
