University Enterprises, Inc. (UEI) at Sacramento State is seeking
an Intramural Sports Coordinator for The WELL.

UEI and the University Union Operation of Sacramento State (Union
WELL, Inc.) are auxiliaries of Sacramento State and California
501(c)3 not-for-profit corporations. The Union WELL, Inc. consists
of the facility operations and programs of two buildings: The
University Union and The WELL (Recreation & Wellness Center). The
University Union facility, totaling approximately 220,000 square
feet, currently houses food service operations, retail operations,
multiple meeting and conference spaces, Associated Students, Inc.,
Student Organizations and Leadership offices, Women's Resource
Center, PRIDE Center, KSSU Student Radio, Public Information Desk,
Games Room, Union Gallery, Terminal Lounge (music/video digital
media), Student Computer Lounge, Meditation Room, computer and
printer workstations throughout the building, a University Police
Service Center, and various open lounge spaces. The WELL, totaling
approximately 165,000 square feet, houses five fitness studios, a
cardio suite, two fitness floors, a multi-activity court, four
basketball courts, a rock climbing wall, four racquetball courts,
an indoor running track, locker rooms, and conference center. The
WELL is also home to Student Health and Counseling Services. The
facilities provide services to over 31,000 students, as well as
faculty and staff on campus.

RATE OF PAY: $4,178 - $6,267 per month

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This is a full-time, non-exempt (eligible for overtime pay),
benefited position that is covered under the California Public
Employees' Retirement System. Continued employment in this position
is dependent upon the mutual consent of University Enterprises and
the employee, and either University Enterprises or the employee
can, at any time, terminate the employment relationship at will,
with or without cause.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education, Recreation, Sports
Management, Business, Exercise and Nutritional Sciences, or a
related field or equivalent combination of education and/or work
experience.
Demonstrated experience in administering comprehensive recreational
sports leagues.
Demonstrated supervisory or management experience including
selecting, training, coordinating, evaluating, and supervising a
diverse workforce.
Demonstrated experience officiating sports and training sports
officials.
Demonstrated knowledge of Intramural Sports/Recreational Sports
league management software.
Knowledge of personnel management, budgeting, and facilities
management.
Ability to direct management goals, facilitate change, and create
innovative programs.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to compile, prepare, write, and review reports.
Knowledge of safety procedures and protocols as they relate to
Intramurals.
Demonstrated experience working with personal computer software
applications including word-processing, spreadsheet, presentation,
internet, and email software, such as the programs in the Microsoft
Office Suite.
Must be able to work evenings and weekends based on program
demands.
Experience working in a multicultural educational environment.
Ability to demonstrate facilitation and teambuilding initiatives
for staff during trainings and events.
Must acquire CPR/AED and First Aid certification within three (3)
months of employment. Certification must be kept current.
Must be fingerprinted and pass a background check. Must continue to
meet the established standards.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in Physical Education, Recreation, Sports
Management, Business, Exercise and Nutritional Sciences, or a
related field.
Demonstrated experience in large student recreation centers,
student unions, student activities, and residence life or student
development.
Experience in a large, non-profit corporation.
Involvement in professional societies and organizations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
With or without reasonable accommodation: Sit for extended periods

coordination; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; verbal
communication; use of office equipment including computers,
telephones, calculators, copy machines, fax machines, printers, and

WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed in an office and recreation center environment;
continuous contact with staff, frequent contact with the campus
community, and the public.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Intramural Sports Coordinator is responsible for developing and
managing a well-organized intramural sports program. This program
provides opportunities for students to participate in a diverse
offering of sport activities within Sacramento State University at
a variety of skill levels. The Coordinator will implement and
review program goals, objectives, policies, risk management
procedures, and student development opportunities. In addition, the
Coordinator will assist and support budget planning, monitor
expenses and staff wages, assess program learning outcomes, and
work with the Union WELL Inc. design team to promote program
offerings. The position reports to, and receives general direction
from, the Assistant Director, Recreation Programs. The position
will supervise all intramural staff, which include Officials,
Supervisors, Attendants, and any student work programs that are
appropriate.
The specific duties and responsibilities are as follows:
Initiates the planning, organization, scheduling, administration,
and team/participant registration process utilizing available
technology, for producing a comprehensive intramural program
including leagues, tournaments, and special events.
Implements the hiring, training, payroll, supervision, and
evaluation of all intramural student personnel, program
supervisors, event supervisors, volunteers, officials, and
attendants.
Monitors and evaluates intramural events while in progress and is
available during hours of intramural competition
(afternoons/evenings/certain weekends) to provide guidance to
involved staff.
Schedules appropriate facilities and facility maintenance (field
lines) for all intramural affiliated on-campus trainings, leagues,
and tournaments.
Serves as the primary risk manager for intramurals through working
with university colleagues to develop risk management plans,
procedures, and protocols for the safety of all program
participants and employees.
Works with the WELL Marketing team and the Union WELL Inc. design
team to help implement effective intramural affiliated marketing
strategies, and present and promote programs to various groups
(e.g., prospective students, orientation sessions, campus
residents, campus clubs, administration, and potential donors).
Assists in the formation, review, and enforcement of all policies
and procedures relating to Intramurals, including annual revisions
of all sport rules and regulations as well as the Intramural Sports
Participant Handbook.
Supports the Assistant Director of Recreation Programs with budget
planning, justification, and management, including the purchase and
inventory of equipment utilized in intramural programs.
Implements a program-specific risk management plan including but
not limited to: conducting safety audits, verification of
participant eligibility, collection of required forms, waivers,
rosters, incident reports, and emergency action plans.
Assists outside groups with securing sports-related facility space
inside The WELL as well as scheduling Program Supervisors, Event
Supervisors and Officials for their events as needed.
Creates and leads a dynamic and motivated staff and volunteer team,
using a high-quality process including hiring, training,
development, and evaluation of staff and volunteers.
Works with Assistant Director of Recreation Programs to cultivate
and maintain positive community relationships within the Intramural
Department and explore sponsorship opportunities with departments
within and outside The Well.
Establishes collaborative relationships with other campus
departments.
Supports and maintains a sound working relationship with all
partners in The WELL, in order to create a dynamic and fully
collaborative health and wellness program.
Evaluates risk management needs associated with all intramural
programs. Consults as needed with the Assistant Director of
Recreation Programs and proposes appropriate policy changes to
provide a safe environment for all.
Coordinates and manages an annual Project List and assists in
managing a strategic planning process that is receptive and
responsive to student, faculty, and staff input regarding
intramural programs.
Oversees the ongoing evaluation of all intramural sports programs,
including completing participant evaluations, focus groups,
informal discussion, and written program surveys.
Coordinates and oversees game site preparation which includes
field/court layout, dimensions, periodic field painting, and
equipment management.
Assists in managing and developing all financial transactions
pertaining to sports equipment and inventory. Creates an annual
budget for all associated programs alongside the Assistant Director
of Recreation Programs.
Creates student learning objectives and an assessment program that
will demonstrate the attainment of skills, knowledge, and overall
personal growth as a result of participation in these programs, as
a student employee, or as a volunteer.
Performs other duties of a similar nature as requested by Assistant
Director and, when designated, can act in the absence of the
Assistant Director of Recreation Programs.
Note: This position vacancy is with University Enterprises Inc., an
auxiliary organization of California State University, Sacramento.
This is not a University position; the incumbent will be an
employee of University Enterprises. University Enterprises operates
commercial enterprises on the California State University,
Sacramento campus; it is responsible for grant and contract
management and fiscal services for University research and
sponsored programs and provides fiscal services to University
related agencies and activities. University Enterprises is a
