Lawrence Group is a national building design, development, and project delivery firm with offices in Austin, Florida, New York, and St. Louis. With 170+ employees, Lawrence Group offers architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, furniture procurement, and graphic design services to a wide variety of clients nationwide, including housing, hospitality, healthcare, academic, retail, and workplace.
Lawrence Group's New York office is seeking an experienced Project Architect / Project Manager to be based in the San Francisco area. The Architect should have 7-12 years of architectural design experience in a professional office environment to join our New York Design Studio. Architectural licensure is preferred. The New York studio operates as a boutique design office with around 8 to 10 architects and designers with a focus on design forward projects ranging from hospitality, retail, wellness, workplace, and residential.

    This role is to serve as the Lawrence Group local project lead for a multi-project effort for work in the Transamerica Pyramid development project in San Francisco. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in architectural design, production, construction, project management, and have a proven track record of delivering successful projects in the retail, workplace, and hospitality sector. They will play a key role in leading diverse projects at the TAP property and ensuring the successful execution of projects from concept through completion.
    The key responsibilities include:

  • Participate in the design and development of retail and workplace projects from concept through construction administration, ensuring adherence to project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with the TAP client team to understand their goals, requirements, and brand identity, and collaborate in translating them into innovative design solutions.
  • Participate in the management of project teams, including architects, designers, engineers, and consultants, to ensure effective communication, coordination, and collaboration throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Conduct site visits, assessments, and analysis to inform design decisions and ensure compliance with building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Collaborate, prepare and participate in the presentation of design concepts, drawings, renderings, and to the TA client group, stakeholders, and project teams.
  • Oversee the preparation of construction documents, specifications, and bid packages, and coordinate with contractors and vendors during the construction phase.
  • Monitor project progress, budget information, and schedules, and proactively identify and address any issues or risks that may impact project outcomes.
  • Foster a creative and collaborative work environment, mentor junior staff, and contribute to the continuous improvement of architectural processes and practices.
  • Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices related to hospitality design, sustainability, and building performance.

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in architecture from an accredited institution.
  • Licensed Architect with 7-12 years of experience in design and architecture preferred.
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering complex projects from concept to completion.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and other relevant design software.
  • Strong design sensibility and a portfolio showcasing innovative and creative hospitality projects.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with clients, consultants, and project teams.
  • Proven leadership abilities, with experience leading project teams and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of building codes, regulations, and standards related to hospitality design, as well as sustainable design principles and practices.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to think critically and analytically.
  • LEED accreditation and/or other relevant certifications are a plus.

    Supervisory Responsibility: This position is responsible for leadership and performance management and may be responsible for mentoring junior staff involved in the work of the office.
    Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment at the Transamerica Pyramid location. This role routinely uses standard architectural office equipment.
    Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are standard with occasional exceptions considered on a case by case basis.
    Travel: Limited travel, if any, is expected for this position.
